All That You Need To Know About FILAPROP Polypropylene Suture

FILAPROP  Polypropylene suture is a sterilized monofilament operative suture made of an isotactic crystalline stereoisomer of polypropylene, a synthetic linear polyolefin. Polypropylene or prolene suture absorbable has the chemical formula (C3H6)n. FILAPROP  sutures are available in two colours: natural and phthalocyanine blue.

Prolene is a non-absorbable polypropylene suture that is synthetic and monofilament. It’s used to close wounds and approximate and ligate soft tissues in general.

Reduced tissue reactivity and longevity are two of their benefits. When in comparison to ordinary nylon sutures, they have the following drawbacks: instability, great plasticity, increased price, and complexity in the application.

To eliminate the memory effect, FILAPROP  Polypropylene suture is offered in a less-memory tray as well as lengthy folders. It comes in a variety of gauge widths and lengths, as well as conventional stainless steel needles in a variety of types and thicknesses. The US Pharmacopoeia’s “Non-Absorbable Surgical Suture” standard and the European Pharmacopoeia’s “Sterile Synthetic Non-Absorbable Monofilament Strand” criteria are both met by FILAPROP .

Surgical suture that is not absorbable

Body enzymes do not decompose or hydrolyze non-absorbable surgical sutures. Non-absorbable sutures have been further divided into Natural and Synthetic sutures and Monofilament and Braided sutures, based on their composition.

 Effectiveness of Polypropylene Sutures

The FILAPROP  Polypropylene suture causes a minor inflammatory reaction in tissues, which is accompanied by the suture being gradually encapsulated by fibrous connective tissue. It is not absorbed or exposed to destruction or weakening by tissue enzymes. Because it is generally physiologically inert, it is indicated to be used in injuries where the least potential suture sensitivity is needed.

Because FILAPROP  is a monofilament suture, it has been effectively used in surgical wounds that may get contaminated or damaged in the future, reducing sinus development and suture extrusion. Because of its limited adhesion to tissue, it is an excellent pull-out suture.

  •  • The HV (Hemovas) Needle is around the core needle that is used to treat blood vessels.
  •  • Round body/taper cut needle with a black finish for improved visibility under bright OT lights.
  •  • C2 Needle- A taper cut C2 (Calcified Coronary) needle for dense, complicated issues.
  •  • MeriSmooth Needle- MeriSmooth Needle can be used for a pass after pass penetration levels.

 Advantageous factors-

  •  • Tissue is passed through with ease.
  •  • Due to the inertness of the substances, there are few acute inflammatory effects in the tissues.
  •  • Unparalleled power.
  •  • Elasticity and elongation qualities that are optimal.

 Polypropylene Sutures

Planned for soft tissue approximation and/or ligation overall. Prolene non-absorbable is highly essential for a patient undergoing certain injuries.

This is the best option in the vascular anastomosis, plastic and reconstructive surgeries, microsurgery treatments, ocular operations, and ligatures.

The type of surgical suture used for implantation is determined by the patient’s situation, surgical experience, surgical intervention, and injury volume.  Prolene seems to have become the preferred material for vascular anastomoses, allowing for substantial advancements in cardiac and vascular surgery. It can be utilized on both tiny and major vessels, such as coronary artery bypasses and the aorta. It’s utilized in obstetrics to suture the rectus sheath of the abdominal wall during cesarean sections since it’s non-absorbable and gives the sheath the strength it needs (the rectus sheath is made up of numerous tendon expansions and muscle fibres that keep the abdominal muscles strong).
